Have you ever been on a blind date or a job interview? If you have, then you know how important a first impression is. When you are writing content for a dental blog, keep in mind that impressing Google is one of the most important things to do. If you have been writing for dentists for a while now, you have probably heard that content is king. This is true. Around this time last year, Google rolled out its Panda algorithm and it changed the way pages are ranked. Sites with unoriginal content and excessive advertisements were hit the hardest by the change. However, for our fellow dental copywriters who write original content, this is great news! Google values your site’s ranking on search page results based on original content—not filler text. Here are a few tips to impress your dear friend, Google.
- Stock your blog with four to five posts before it goes live.
- Post new blogs at least three times a week. You want Google to see that your blog is regularly updated.
- Edit your posts for grammar and spelling mistakes.
- Ask your readers to comment on your blogs. Interaction makes for a lively blog site.
- Use backlinks and social media to drive traffic to your blog posts.
- Space your content so that it is easy to read. Write concisely and use headings and subheadings.
- Give your readers value. Blogs packed with tips, factual content on dentistry, and how-to information normally ranks high with readers because the posts offer useful information.
- Add some trivia or interesting facts to captivate your readers.
